  • The Best!
This bakery is hands-down the best bakery I've ever been to in my life! I've been to this place ever since I was in a womb and my parents swear by this place for their cakes and pastries. I'm still amazed at how consistently good everything is here.
When I go here, I like to get the pignoli tarts (they're amazingly soft with a wonderful aromatic amaretto flavor) and their canolis are awesome too!
So this past thanksgiving, I ordered an apple crumb pie and it was too-die-for!!! It was so fresh (and I mean the apples had this fresh kind of taste) and had that perfect amount cinnamon and sugar in combination with the great texture of the top crumb layer. It was just amazing!!! Even the pie crust was perfectly made and I usually never eat pie crusts. This pie crust didn't have that typical greasy after taste it had a soft kind of fall-apart-in-your-mouth kind of texture. This place just never ceases to amaze me! Keep up the good work La Guli!! I'll always be your most loyal customer!

  • What a nice little Italian bakery. My friends were praising this place so I decided to check it out. I'm not much for cakes, but every so often I get a craving for cannoli or a sfogliatelle. I thought the cannoli cream was perfect, not to sweet, like many usually are. The coffee was excellent. Besides cakes, pastry and cookies, they also serve gelato.
They have a few tables inside for eating in. The owner was friendly and made some small talk with us. Another nice spot to pop in when you are in Astoria. What a great neighborhood to chow down in.

  • The AUTHENTIC mom and pop Italian pastry
OMG, this is the AUTHENTIC (mom and pop, neighborhood) Italian pastry shop which I and a few friends use to go to when we were kids. It's SO GREAT to know they are still around and at the same location. I remember when they use to make "pregnant cannoli's" which were awesome . I wonder if they still make them. Oh and I can't forget, it's also the first place and the first time that I ever tasted spumoni ice cream ... yummi

  • A solid 4 stars!
I had just finished my training ride of 30 miles (not much but better than nada), and I just had a big bowl of ramen, yet my body did not feel complete. I needed something, something fattening and sweet! And in a couple, we were at the store front of La Guli. What a training ride gone to waste, but it was worth it. My sis and I ordered just 2 items, yet it was enough to make this shop a solid 4 stars. We had the chocolate hazelnut cake and walnut tart. The chocolate hazelnut cake was incredibly delicious. Rich, and decadent, yet light at the same time. And it had the perfect amount of sweetness. It's definitely one of the best pieces of cake I had ever had. You get the nutty hazelnut flavor permeating throughout the whole cake. It's like eating nutella in cake form. The pecan tart on the other hand was ok. I don't think I would get it again. The prices are worth it for the slices they give you. It's absolutely amazing. I definitely will come back here to try more. I don't care how fat I get or how many more miles I need to ride to get rid of the calories.

  • WOW!
Every time I come in this shop I am like a kid looking around in wonder! It's been 4 times already and I am always amazing at looking in the cases! Rosario and his niece Marie have an incredibly top notch bakery shop! One of the best I have seen in my travels. You feel transported back in time looking at all the items in the shop. It has an old time feel and very nostalgic. Spumoni and chocolate almond horn on this visit. WOW! As I was eating I was looking around and what to have on my next visit. The folks are very helpful and friendly there! I highly recommend their spumoni and Italian ices. Pastries too! Service with a smile and baked goods to die for! The window displays they have in the storefront are just beautiful too! I will be back for sure and you should go too

  • So many happy memories in La Guli's
So many happy memories in La Guli's from childhood. Italian Ices in the summer, birthday cakes in the fall, this place was the bomb. Then, they switched owners. For a little while, it was alright, then things got bad. Now, they happily display that the original owners are back! But something was lost in translation. The cannoli for example, the shell had an oily taste. Italian ices, Spumoni was good, but not the way I remember it, like it was missing something. However, the eclair was perfect, chocolate heaven. Really big too. Inside looks the same as it did when I was four years old, good times.

  • The most delicious cakes ever!!!
This bakery did a specialty, one of a kind Christian Louboutain cake for my birthday. Not only did it look amazing, exactly like the picture I gave them, but it was one of the most delicious cakes ever!!! Oh and they delivered it to my house! I'll definitely keep using them for all of my orders.

  • Do you crave a really good cannoli?
Do you crave a really good cannoli? Then La Guli is the only bakery for you! I have had their chocolate cannoli, regular cannoli, chocolate dipped shell cannoli and even have purchased their famous "pregnant cannoli" (jumbo canoli shell filled with baby cannolis) for parties. The most scrumptous filling I have had, and trust me , I have tried cannolis in many restaurants and local bakeries. Struffoli is another favorite of mine at La Guli. They decorate the stuffoli with cherries, almonds and make it a very colorful presentation. D E L I C I O U S! The vast variety of mini pastries are fun also! Amaretto cheesecake bites, neapolitan pastry squares, rum minis...the list is endless!

  • La Guli in Astoria is the real deal!
Looking for an Italian Bakery? No need to go to Little Italy or Bensonhurst, La Guli in Astoria is the real deal! I discovered La Guli when I was looking for a place to buy stuffoli and cannolis for Christmas. La Guli had great stuffoli, Italian cookies, and fantastic cannolis. I have not tried the cakes, but they looked amazing.Despite all of the trendy changes happening in Astoria, this classic NYC Italian bakery has kept it's original charm. I wish I had discovered it earlier. La Guli is worth a visit for any occasion.

  • Favorite bakery of all time
I somehow never got around to reviewing my favorite bakery of all time. I have fond memories coming here as a kid (with my parents), as a teenager (with my friends or by myself) and now as an adult (trying to serpentine through the hipsters that have infiltrated my old 'hood). All I have to say is RAINBOW COOKIES. Delicious, amazing and no one has been able to top 'em yet. They have cookies with sprinkles and cookies with chocolate chips and those are good too, but seriously, get a 1/2 pound of rainbow cookies and thank me later!
